Who we are . .

APPCIOS was founded by Anton Obholzer, Jenny Sprince and Judith Trowell.

Dr. Anton Obholzer was the original Chair of our Trustee Board.  Anton is a Psychiatrist, a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and a Child and Adult Psychoanalyst who trained at both the Tavistock Clinic and the Institute of Psychoanalysis in London, and for some years was Chair of the Tavistock Clinic.

Bob Hinshelwood took over as Chair of Trustees when Anton retired.  As well as being a well-known psychoanalyst and psychiatrist, he is Professor Emeritus of Psychoanalytic Studies at the University of Essex.  You can find out more about him here.   And you might also want to go to his website, here.

Jenny Sprince is a Tavistock-trained child psychotherapist and organisational consultant.  She is Chair of the APPCIOS Management Committee.   You can read a presentation here that she gave to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).  

Judith Trowell is the Chair of our Accreditation Committee.  She is an eminent psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, well known for her research, and with many publications to her name. You can find some of them here.
